The vision for Linea began seven years ago with deep research into zero-knowledge technology. Five years later, that research came to life with the launch of Linea’s testnet, followed by Linea’s Alpha mainnet, and the scaling of gaming, DeFi and NFT sectors.
In the 15 months since our mainnet launch, many of you have taken to dapps on Linea to buy, sell, swap, and stake; thousands have built non-stop to fulfill visions of new permissionless systems; others have found communities and grown their digital identity with memes and gaming; and as of recently, even killed zombies.
During this time, we’ve been listening and learning from your continuous feedback across our social and support channels, from the wide variety of requests and collaborations with partners and builders to the explosive growth you spurred during the Voyage quests—all in an effort to realize Linea’s mission: to empower the world to live onchain.

There is no life onchain without security. Since day one, Linea has prioritized building the safest place from which to interact with web3, working with over 20 security partners on threat prevention, real-time monitoring, post-incident tracing, user protection, and trust and reputation systems.

Verax, an open-source, public registry for storing on-chain attestations is designed for enhanced discoverability and composability. Proof of Humanity, meanwhile, allows for the verification of unique human identities, preventing sybil attacks and ensuring that each identity is tied to a real person.
And as vocalized by Vitalik Buterin, standardization across chain-specific addresses is a next frontier for the ecosystem. The launch of Linea Names answers this call, translating blockchain addresses to human-readable labels, and establishing a new outlet for decentralized digital identities.

Communities around memecoins and NFT projects are particularly active on Linea. This is why we put focus on empowering creator communities. Just last month, the first ever Linea Guild Games saw gaming platform Hyperplay host a zombie killing marathon on The Unfettered for the first four Linea Guilds. These Guilds were originally meme projects on Linea that were elevated to Guild status thanks to votes from the community. Guilds Efrogs, Linus ,FrogwithCat, and Foxy are pushing the culture forward and championing Linea by rallying like-minded believers in their mission.
Outside of Linea-hosted activities, community on Linea is always bubbling. Our network wouldn’t be the same without actors like The Linea Champions, a volunteer group who dedicate their onchain lives to helping other users.
