The Linea Voyage is nearing its end and we are now on to Week 8. In this week, which will also mark the final week of on-chain activities, our focus is on decentralized finance (DeFi).

DeFi is one of the most important use cases of web3, with the total value locked currently at $45.11B. Even though Ethereum still dominates the world of DeFi in terms of market share, its scalability issues still hinder the widespread adoption of DeFi. Higher activity on Ethereum leads to low throughput and subsequently, exorbitant gas fees. This reduces DeFi’s viability for users.

Layer 2 (L2) solutions are key to DeFi since they address Ethereum’s scalability challenges by offloading some data processing to the L2s, which are essentially smaller blockchains built on top of the main chain. By processing data on these L2s, the main chain is freed up, thus allowing for more capacity and lower transaction fees on the main chain.

This week, participants in the Voyage will be able to explore the fascinating world of DeFi, with our 24 partners who are revolutionizing the DeFi landscape. Our partners for this week are Cashmere, Izumi Finance, zkUSD, Squid, PancakeSwap, Mendi Finance, Gridex, dForce, Fluvi, FWDEX, MES Protocol, Particle Network, SushiSwap, Compound, KyberSwap, zkEX, Symbiosis, Velocore, Mimo Labs, OpenOcean, MetalSwap, Airswap, and NoobySwap.

Some of the tasks involved in this week will include swapping tokens on several partners’ decentralized applications (dapps). There is also other cool DeFi activities that you will be able to test out: from borrowing USDC with ETH collateral on Compound, to testing out volatility hedging on MetalSwap. You will also be able to test PancakeSwap V3 on Linea, make a swap on Uniswap, do cross-chain swaps on Cashmere, test KyberSwap on Linea testnet, among other things.

We are also happy to announce that you will be able to test one of the most wanted features in the crypto ecosystem right now -- account abstraction! You will be able to test it on Fluvi wallets on the dapps of Compound, PancakeSwap, Velocore, SushiSwap. Please make sure to read the tutorials to check out how you will be able to leverage this feature.

We have dedicated immense effort to curating an exceptional DeFi Week campaign. We firmly believe that these types of use cases will shape the industry in the years to come, and we sincerely hope that you enjoy exploring our partners' applications as much as we enjoyed curating them.

Please note that you will have some extra time to complete this week’s tasks. Instead of running for five days, the DeFi campaign will run for 10 days. The activities for this week will start on June 26th, 2023 9am EST and run until July 4th, 2023 11.59pm EST. You will have until July 5th, 2023 at 11:59 pm EST to claim your points, provided that the activities are completed by the July 2 deadline.
