Linea always aims to be at the forefront of adopting cutting-edge web3-native tools and products. To this end, we are introducing an innovative reward type for the Linea Entertainment Festival: the Linea Gas Pass.

The Linea Gas Pass is a NFT that also functions as a wallet. The token-bound account standard, ERC-6551, creates a new primitive for on-chain engagement. Any NFT can be turned into a smart-contract wallet that allows the holder of the NFT to perform all other functionalities of a web3 wallet. Each Gas Pass, as the name suggests, is filled with sponsored transactions. Think of a gift card coupled with a loyalty program, where users can now freely experience the Linea ecosystem while earning on-chain reputation and rewards.

Let’s dive deeper into ERC-6551, the standard that enables NFT-as-a-Wallet, into the Linea Gas Pass, and the Linea Entertainment Festival.

What is ERC-6551?

The ERC-6551 is a revolutionary standard that instills a level of interactivity into static NFTs. To understand NFT wallets, we first need to understand token-bound accounts. These accounts, enabled by ERC-6551, allow any NFT to act as a smart contract account on the Ethereum Virtual Machine.

In practice, this means that any NFT that one owns can also hold other tokens, self-custody assets, execute transactions, control other contracts or accounts, and use accounts across multiple chains. The NFT as a Wallet works with both new and existing NFT collections and offers exciting new utilities to just static jpegs.

One of the key benefits of NFTs in gaming is that it enables digital ownership of in-game assets, unlike traditional gaming where players only have license to use virtual assets. Further, it allows for on-chain exchange of those assets.

Moreover, NFTs allow cross-platform interoperability, which allows gamers to use their NFTs across different games. This seamless transition of digital assets from one game to another enables active collaboration and greater engagement among players. The interoperability of digital assets also provides new on-chain gameplay mechanics and business models. For example, different games can collaborate to create a scavenger hunt across environments.

A gamer’s character can change skins based on the different levels of the game that they unlock. Additionally, the NFT-as-a-Wallet can also allow for richer gameplay by allowing different NFTs to be merged or combined to create new NFTs. By combining different in-game digital assets together, say a digital avatar and tokens that allow you to enhance its capabilities, it enables a seamless sale/ purchase experience for those assets for gamers.

The games can also distribute on-chain reputation standards such as Proof of Attendance Protocol (POAPs) or Ethereum Attestation Service (EAS) to the NFT wallets when the players accomplish milestones in game.

How Does the Linea Gas Pass Work?

As mentioned above, Linea will distribute NFT-as-a-Wallet, or Gas Pass, to the winners of its Entertainment Festival. The criteria for selecting these participants will be determined and communicated by each respective project to their communities. The rewards for the Entertainment Festival will be managed by Linea's ecosystem partners, Pimlico and Station Labs, with sponsorship from Linea. The prize includes 100 Linea Gas Pass, transferable on secondary markets, initially funded with $500 worth of ETH in the paymaster for each wallet to cover gas fees, with no set expiration date.

The Entertainment Festival spans a month with two phases, from September 5, 2023 to October 8, 2023. Users who actively participate in both phases stand a better chance of achieving a higher score and securing a superior rank in the game. The more quests one completes, the greater their odds of victory. The minimum requirement of participating in the raffle is to participate in three game quests from Group A's communities and ranking top 60 in ANY of the quest from Group B's communities.

Here is how you can set yourself up for success in the Linea Entertainment Festival:

• Complete the Proof of Humanity attestation (more details on this coming soon) - please pay attention to the time of attestation launch in the DeGame landing page.

• Accomplish the pre-quests provided by Linea, Degame, and Particle Network.

• Successfully complete all quests from at least three communities in Group A.

• Conquer quests from any community in Group B and secure a spot among the top 60 on a community leaderboard by the end of second phase.

For each entertainment project categorized in Group B, you have a chance to earn yourself a Linea Gas Pass and a Linea Discord role, if you rank in any of the community leaderboards of these projects during the Festival.

Here is the breakdown of these rewards from projects in Group B, based on how you rank on the project’s sprint leaderboards:

• If you finish #1, you get a Linea Gas Pass and the “Linea Top Gamer” Discord role.

• For those finishing between the second and tenth positions, you become eligible to participate in the Linea Gas Pass raffle, and still get the “Linea Top Gamer” Discord role.

• If you finish anywhere between number 11 and number 60 on the leaderboards, you become eligible for the Linea Gas Pass raffle, and get the “Linea Pro Gamer” Discord role.
