While Linea Culture SZN has officially come to an end, its impact on artists, communities, and the overall Linea ecosystem lives on. For a month, Lineans rallied around their favorite artists, minting NFTs from 23 creators, with almost 1 million participants.
As Linea progresses on its journey to decentralization, nurturing a dynamic network where users become part of diverse communities is a priority. This was a main driver behind Culture SZN, creating a platform for both established and rising creators to connect to new users and fostering a forum for open community discussion.
Culture SZN displayed the depth of web3 art on Linea, the world’s fastest-growing zkEVM L2 blockchain. NFTs capture everything from PFPs and memes to lore-driven art, video, movement, and physical art turned digital.
The activations culminated with the crowning of the first-ever Linea Guilds: Efrogs, Frog Wars, Foxy, and Coop Records. Stay tuned for the announcement of the fifth and final Linea Guild! Ultimately, we saw the diversity of the communities on Linea, their excitement to engage with new audiences, and their willingness to share honest feedback.
Here’s a recap of what you may have missed from Linea Culture SZN.
Over four weeks Lineans welcomed 23 creators and a diverse range of NFT art. Each wave offered artists a chance to connect with new communities, bringing an extra layer of excitement to the ecosystem. We got to celebrate the contributors and creativity of the following creators, teams, and collectors:
In the first week of Culture SZN, OctoMos dropped an interchangeable rooster NFT, while Push took the opportunity to release an NFT that represented an evolution of his body of work with a unifying message. Crazy Gang’s stylized digital cartoon-like characters found new crazy ones to join the “Gang.” Elsewhere, Wizards of Linea struck lightning with powered-up owls come to life. Efrogs, the first Linea Guild, dropped the Efrog Passport, unlocking exclusive perks for holders. Croak.
In week two, Lineans stepped into the lore-driven world of Satoshi Universe and followed Didi and Bibi’s extraterrestrial journey in Frog Wars. Linus, the growing meme community founded by Linea champion Pengmilio, dropped a mint gold coin. GameFi platform Yooldo created an artwork featuring cyborg Yoolia and a cosmic reading. TCOM Global presented Sharaku, the protagonist of “The Three-Eyed One,” who possesses the ability to see through the past, present, and future. Lastly, Toad the Great’s mosaic comprised 66 artworks, each depicting a famous character or event from the past.
KanNFTStudio planted a psychedelic Ceiba tree in the Mayan jungle. The largest meme community on Linea, Foxy, dropped a pixelated fox. **Ascend the End’**s Draw Pass was crafted from a futuristic alloy, and served as a ticket to a lottery experience. SendingMe released an anthropomorphic version of Sendorca, SendingMe’s mascot, created in collaboration with Bryce Chang, head artist for Stan Lee's personal comics. Web3 social game TownStory’s artwork featured Mini Santo, a unique character integral to their universe. Lastly, **Demmortal Treasure’**s community pass granted access to lotteries and other prizes.
Stonez the Organic, JT, and Crux of art collective Forbidden Fruit took us on an odyssey that spanned movement, music, and visual art. Adélaïde Laurent-Bellue invited Lineans into her inner world with a canvas turned NFT. Digital artist, DJ, and producer Borja Moskv dropped a video based on the artist’s 2021 NFT collection “The Superstars.” Onchain record label Coop Records released a commemorative mint that celebrated their music catalog expanding to a new ecosystem.
$LINUS is a growing memecoin on Linea, founded by Linea champion Pengmilio. In the $LINUS Thesis, Pengmilio cites the importance of memecoins due to their unlimited growth potential, fixed and finite supply, 24/7 market, institutional interest, and role as a trojan horse for web3. For Culture SZN, Pengmillio created a mint gold coin featuring the quickly iconic Linus penguin. Check out $LINUS and Pengmilio’s world of memes on X.
As always, our team is taking community feedback to heart. Following past community reactions, specifically around Linea Park, we received and responded to feedback to make the experience faster, cheaper, and more efficient. Here are some of the updates we implemented for Culture SZN, and the additional feedback we’re responding to
Fewer tasks, shorter time frame: Culture SZN streamlined to fewer tasks and a shorter time frame compared to past campaigns, addressing community feedback about not wanting high-volume or complicated tasks.
Decaying LXP: LXP for this campaign continued to decay – also implemented based on past community feedback.
Minting process: Overall, the minting process went smoothly. For the issues that arose, largely due to system pressures from a high volume of mints, teams worked to fix them, and extended mint periods to make up for offline time.
PoH and Sybil: Proof of Humanity (PoH) process and Sybil protections have been identified as areas for improvement. This is ongoing feedback we are considering and responding to for future activations.
Community creation: Culture SZN helped create organic communities. Lineans engaged in discussions about who was voting for who for Linea Guilds and why. Users bonded through these communities, changed their profile pictures, and were excited to be part of new movements.
