Linea’s Dev Cook-Off has been simmering for several months now and some spicy creations are ready to serve.
The monthly online buildathon has seen more shipping than some of the world’s biggest ports and today we’re highlighting a few of this year’s winners: OwnSound and Linea Club.
Let’s start with OwnSound, a project that believes our Dev Cook-Off may have sparked the future of music ownership.
From blockchain developer Abhishek Yadav and full stack dev Vivek Sahu, OwnSound redefines how music is owned, shared, and valued using blockchain technology.
At its core, the platform introduces Non-Fungible Sounds (NFS)—a revolutionary concept for music ownership. It’s not just about streaming or downloads. It’s about creating a space where music lovers can own tracks or rent them, with artists earning fairly every step of the way. It’s time to rebuild the music industry, piece by piece, on a foundation of fairness, privacy, and transparency.
The process is straightforward, but the implications are game-changing:
Artists upload their music, turning each track into an NFS—a tokenized asset on the blockchain.
Fans can buy or rent these NFS tokens, gaining ownership or temporary access.
Royalties flow automatically to the artists, thanks to self-executing smart contracts.
Listeners can curate their own private playlists, secured with encryption for complete privacy.
Tracks can be traded on a secondary marketplace, ensuring artists earn from every resale.
It’s a system where everyone wins: creators, listeners, and even the music itself.
Privacy and trust are at the heart of OwnSound. Using Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE), the platform ensures that users’ playlists remain private—even from the platform itself.
Ownership is recorded immutably on the blockchain, secured with multi-signature wallets and AES encryption. The result? A platform that fans and creators can trust with their data, their music, and their investments.
Every success story begins with a spark, and OwnSound’s was lit at the Dev Cook-Off. What started as brainstorming sessions continued with rounds of ideation, designing, deploying and testing a system utilizing IPFS for storage, FHE for privacy, and Polygon for cost-efficient transactions. The platform launched on EDU Chain with real-world feedback from musicians helping to refine UX.
The cook-off was just the beginning. The future is brimming with possibilities, including:
Expanding the OwnSound marketplace with more artists and genres.
Building partnerships with independent creators and record labels.
Enhancing discovery features using AI to connect fans with the music they love.
The team behind OwnSound isn’t stopping here. They’re committed to pushing boundaries and making decentralized music ownership a standard in the Web3 space.
Funding has always been a challenge for small startups and students thanks to bureaucracy, stringent requirements, and limited access to traditional investment channels. Linea Club, the creation of full stack web3 dev Vikash, was born to tackle this challenge head-on by leveraging the power of blockchain and decentralized governance.
Linea Club is a treasury management dapp designed to help startups and students raise funds through decentralized voting and redefine how investment clubs operate.
The journey started as a local project in August, with months of effort culminating in a live, fully functional dapp deployed on Linea Club.
The private investment fund market is massive, with assets under management reaching $4.6 trillion in 2020, according to Bain & Company. However, this market often excludes smaller investors and grassroots projects due to its complexity and exclusivity.
Linea Club envisions a decentralized world where anyone can invest in promising projects from anywhere in the world. By creating investment clubs powered by blockchain, it eliminates barriers and opens opportunities for startups, students, and like-minded individuals to pool resources and grow together.
The concept is simple yet revolutionary:
Create investment clubs: Users can start clubs with just a name, and each club is linked to the creator’s account.
Join DAOs: Membership is exclusive to users with shared interests, ensuring alignment within the club.
Contribute to the treasury: Members can pool funds into a shared treasury for proposals.
Propose and vote: Members can create funding proposals, specifying the amount and recipient. Other members vote to approve or reject the proposals.
Execute proposals: Approved proposals are executed by the creator, and funds are transferred automatically to the specified recipient.
With features like timed voting (5 minutes per proposal) and strict membership caps (99 members per club), Linea Club ensures efficiency and security in its operations.
Private clubs: Limited to 99 members to align with global regulatory standards.
Voting-based governance: Funding decisions are made democratically through member voting.
Proposal management: Members can propose, vote, and execute initiatives seamlessly.
Treasury contributions: Transparent pooling of resources for community-driven investments.
The journey doesn’t stop here. Vikash has exciting plans to make Linea Club even more impactful:
AI-Driven recommendations: Personalized suggestions for members based on their interests.
On-Chain identity verification: Integrating social proof mechanisms to validate users.
Enhanced communication: A chat system for real-time collaboration between voters and proposal creators.
With its live dapp (try it here) and a growing community of supporters, the future of decentralized investments has never looked brighter.
