The Linea Surge officially launched May 16th. This new Voyage will advance Linea’s zk-EVM ecosystem by boosting liquidity and total value locked (TVL) on the network, attracting new users and more diverse use cases along with them.
Linea's ecosystem is designed with the utmost attention to security and the Surge is boosting security requirements even further, aligning with Linea’s objective of being the most secure layer 2 (L2) available.
This two-part series breaks down all the work the Linea team is doing to keep dapps, builders, and users safe on the network. If you’re interested in learning more about Linea’s rigorous security standards and practices, feel free to dive in here.
Here’s what we’re doing to keep all of you Lineans safe during this Voyage.
In order to qualify for the Surge, dapps must provide proof of threat prevention via audits as well as a real-time monitoring solution using one of Linea’s security partners.
Mature projects that have been live for longer than a year and have more than $50M TVL on any other EVM network were omitted from these requirements due to their proven ability to reach and maintain a high TVL.
To meet safety standards for threat prevention via audits dapps must (a) get their code base audited, (b) provide access to that audit report, and (c) confirm that the audit report refers to the same bytecode deployed on Linea or present a new one.
Real-time monitoring boosts network security by making vulnerability detection happen in real-time for smart contracts critical to the protocol. Participating dapps must use one of our partner real-time monitoring solutions:
Hexagate - currently monitors Lynex, Renzo, and more. Hexagate’s advanced machine learning algorithms ensure high-fidelity real-time threat detection, risk intelligence, and mitigation, safeguarding chains, protocols, bridges, and asset managers, protecting over $50 billion in digital assets. Trusted by Linea, Metamask, and Consensys, Hexagate partners with Linea to provide proactive threat protection across its ecosystem of over 300 dapps.
Hypernative - monitors Mendi Finance, ZeroLend, and more. Hypernative monitors on and off-chain data sources using proprietary machine learning models to accurately predict cyber, economic, governance, and community threats.
Cyvers - provides proactive threat identification and real-time monitoring through AI-driven solutions and deep security expertise. Cyvers’s AddressShield service and strategic integrations enhance an infrastructure's resilience, making Cyvers a global leader in Web3 security.
Ironblocks - is a modular web3 security layer for comprehensive real-time defense powered by unified security and decentralized trust. Ironblocks’s approach transcends traditional security measures and upholds the core principles of web3 — ensuring interoperability, composability, decentralization, trustlessness, and accessibility across the ecosystem.
Linea works with security partners to ensure dapp and therefore user safety. But we can’t stop there. User protection helps prevent vulnerabilities at the level where a dapp user interacts on-chain. This starts with comprehensive education and community support, so people know the best practices to protect themselves in a permissionless ecosystem.
